Buffalo Turbine 80th Anniversary Logo

Buffalo Turbine Celebrates 80 Years

SPRINGVILLE, N.Y. (Feb. 1, 2025) – Buffalo Turbine, a leader in turbine technology, is celebrating its 80th anniversary in 2025. The year-long celebration will begin in-booth at the GCSAA Conference & Trade Show in San Diego, California, from Feb. 3–6.

A History of Innovation

Buffalo Turbine was founded in 1945 by Bob Knolls. The company changed the spraying industry with its first turbine blower, designed for better application of chemicals. Over the years, Buffalo Turbine has expanded its products, creating powerful turbine equipment used for dust control, mosquito and vector management, and, most famously, debris cleanup.

Key Milestones

• 1945 – First turbine blower for spraying.
• 1989 – Company acquired by current owners, Louis and Karl Horschel, sparking major growth.
• 1996 – Introduced first turbine blower for debris management. The actual first KB blower delivered to a customer is still in use today.
• 2023 – First stand-on turbine debris blower.
• 2024 – First battery-powered turbine debris blower.
• Trusted by Experts – The U.S. Military, NASCAR, PGA Tour, and countless others have sought out Buffalo Turbine specifically because of our expertise in moving high volume of air, at a high velocity.

Commitment to Quality

Buffalo Turbine has always been driven by the demands of the industries served and customers. We have always looked at delivering the highest quality product while being a cost effective solution.

We have thrived for 80 years by focusing on three core principles:
1. Safe and easy operation.
2. Maximum uptime by engineering products to be very robust.
3. Simple, low-maintenance design.

The company offers the only 10-year warranty in the industry and has introduced countless industry first innovations. Louis Horschel credits their success to hands-on experience. “Buffalo Turbine is based in rural Springville, New York. My partner, Karl Horschel, and I still farm and operate equipment ourselves. We know what’s important. Our goal is to build the highest-quality equipment while still being cost effective,” he says.

Looking Ahead

Buffalo Turbine plans to continue pushing their “Best on Earth” boundaries with new technology. “As we celebrate this milestone, we’re excited to lead the industry with groundbreaking products like our new battery-powered turbine debris blower,” Louis adds.

Throughout 2025, Buffalo Turbine will feature special anniversary badges on its machines to honor its 80-year legacy.
